Mini Countryman

A family friend* has just changed jobs, he's a Sales Executive who does really important* things all day and gets paid a cocking fortune :?

Anyhoo he rocks up at ours in a new Mini Countryman but I unfortunately* missed the grand unavailing and new car smugness demonstration but my Daughter said it was "one of those big Mini's".

Now I don't know about you but I think these things are daft (what is a "crossover" vehicle all about  ) and mainly driven by egotistical attention-seekers, mostly Mumsy Women who want to appear to be "doing well" in fact I think it's a Woman's car full stop. I couldn't give a flying f*ck about what people come to my house in, you couldn't pay me to drive a modern car like that and I'd certainly want a convincing disguise before I drove any kind of Mini.

What do you think when you see one of these on the road?

3 things:

1 - Image
2 - "Mini"? It's f*cking massive!
3 - Owner must be a Image

I just about tripped over an original Fiat 500 at the end of November, one lunchtime, as I was walking from work to the shops. It was parked between two vans, just a bit out from the kerb - turned to walk between the two vans and so I didn't see it til I was about to introduce it to my kneecap. You wouldn't have that issue with one of the new Fiat 500 - especially not the 500L (fugly crap-heap).

I like old cars, I like retro / nostalgia stuff as much as the next guy. But this crap is not the same thing.

The whole charm of the Mini was that it was very small. Dammit, that's where it got its name. But you could practically fit one of them in the back seat of a BMW Mini.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

Oh good, I'm glad its not just me then.

To be honest I'm rather let down buy this guy's car choice, surprised even, I thought better of him or at least I thought I knew him better :( now his card is marked and he's just one more f*ck up from being filled in the NO CONTACT drawer and I can go back to having no friends, easier for me.

Except you lot of virtual friends of course, you're all f*cking ace :cheesy:

I seen one of these visual horrors outside my dads work, it belongs to someone at his work, he said it's good that you don't need to bend down to get in (good for a bad back) but agreed that it looked ridiculous.

One massive problem with these new retro cars and crossovers is that the visibility out of them is terrible because of their massive windscreen pillars

:arrowu: Is a mess.... Although I like the axle stands, I would rather look at them than that carbuncle....

Its not affordable, compact, cheap to run or revolutionary in any way - and its sold in BMW forecourts.

The only good thing about the new Bini is the fact its made in England.

That's one thing going for them, anything else?

I just wonder how much power they could generate if they hooked up Issigonis to a generator as he steadily rotates in his grave...

I mind when driving through Southampton bringing the 305 home there was a lot of minis heading towards the port, all the 2 door coupe thing they do I wouldn't really want one
but there were some really nice motors there as well; new range rovers, and f type jags the noise they make is fantastic.
