That is completely awesome!

These robots are eventually going to be used in disaster relief scenarios - earthquake zones, collapsed buildings, bomb sites, etc - to locate trapped/buried survivors amongst the rubble, and to alert human rescuers to their whereabouts. Therefore they need to be able to run over rough terrain, up and down mounts of broken masonry, and maintain their balance, even if bits of rock come tumbling down and smack them (hence the kick test).

They require a small amount of AI for directional and balance control, but they're not going to kick you back if you kick them :)
