headache!

Post by benjhill »

As some of you may know my car took abit of a knock about a week ago now the front end is rebuilt which i thought would of been the end of it so anyway , got the car off the ramp last night all seemed well , put the key in to fire her up and nothing at all from the dash not even a glimmer of light , battery was clearly flat so stuck it in charge long enough to fire the car and let the engine take over the charging , took her for a drive over the road the damage was done on in the first place , now the list of problems starts , my steering is knocking like mad , the little screen above the radio keeps saying ABS fault , shes down on power oh its driving me up the wall the car just feels numb , also the battery will no longer hold charge over night even with a replacement battery , it may be time to take this one to the scrap yard :(
2000 406 saloon 2.0L HDi standard de-cat , soon to be fitted intercooler , planned stage 2+ remap hoping for 160bhp & 410 ft lbs :cheesy:

Oh dear. Sounds as though it needs some more money on it. There are some pretty cheap ones on ebay so that might be your best route. I have run Citroen XM estates for over 15 years although I have a 406 and C5 now I had one left in the field so decided to get it back on the road again, they are getting very scarce now, anyway it needed a windscreen for the MOT so i got the firm out to fit one and he couldn't do it because the surround had gone rotten, so that had to go for scrap. :(

Unfortunately they are like hens teeth now, especially my favoured model the 2.1 manual estate. You could buy them for peanuts a few years ago so if a serious fault developed you could throw them away and buy another, which I did - not now I'm afraid. They are an amazing car, superb ride, huge interior space and 50+ to the gallon driven gently. I must have done more than a quarter of a million miles in them.
