Hi now iv,e got the old girl p reg 2.1 td lx 7 seater finally up and running i thought about time i got my spare key fixed it,s never worked to unlock /lock doors from the fob although it can manually lock/ unlock doors, so i took it to key specialist in warwick they put new circuit board in the key but they can't reprogramme it, after 4 trips back and forward and £45 later i,m back to square one any ideas chaps?

Hi.
Try taking the battery out of the plip for an hour or so
This might help.

Then go back to the coding procedure..
Is it? Put key in ignition..turn to position where ign light comes on
& then press the larger button on the plip twice?.

Imight be wrong tho..

Iused to have Autodata which was good for this sort of info..
But I've binned my PC. :(

I,ll try that, also i,ll have to familiarise with coding procedure first they gave me instructions for a d9 but mines a d8 maybe that's why they couldn't do it

Hi.
Ihad a look on Google..
Its confusing as there 3 different method's of programming mentioned..
There's even one where it says point key at the interior light & press plip..
Thus using spare key in ignition..

If you've got a garage nearby..ask them if theyve got access to Autodata..
Maybe they'd do a print off for you of the instructions..

The "point at the interior light" one is for the very early 406s which had infra-red keys instead of RF - you can tell these because the LED is visible on the key.
