Well, she's back and reports he's looking much better - bright-eyed, waggy-tailed and eating everything in sight. No more crud extracted from his stomach.
All being well, he's over the wall tomorrow morning.
Mrs Doggy now probably wants to go on holiday.

Red dog re-installed. 8)

Looking a bit sorry for himself, (the crud on his nose is where they glued his nasogastric tube to stop him sneezing it out).
Looks really thin, but he's only dropped 0.7 kg to 11.3 kg. 3 small meals a day and 10 minutes exercise on a lead while he recovers.....

We've decided to go on holiday / leave him with my daughter, (the hospital were adamant he shouldn't leave the country), makes sense but we'll miss the little burger.
Aiming to set off early Wednesday, to get to Munich for Thursday lunchtime. He should be well on the way to recovery when we get back.

I honestly thought I wouldn't see him again after leaving him there last Sunday evening. Pleased to admit I was wrong.

Thanks everyone for you messages of support. 8)

Blimey what a roller coaster week. I hope he won't think you're running out on him, what awful timing. I guess he'll be comfortable with your daughter so that's good.

Maybe you can Skype him whilst away? :)

And all this on top of the car playing silly buggers. One good thing about the HDi's is that they soldier on no matter what; not like some of these moderns that shut down and leave you stranded.

Yes, he's doing fine, thank you Graeme. :cheesy:
Seems to be pretty much his old self, barring some bald patches on his legs, a completely shaved undercarriage and a 9" long scar that's healing nicely.

Ouch - that's a long scar for a small body!

Glad to hear he's behaving like he used to; it's a good sign that he's not in a lot of pain.

Great news! I've lost a bunch of pets over the years - mostly cats, as I am too lazy to own a dog (walking them in the rain at 6pm is not appealing). We have a 10 year old Burmese that yells all the time (a breed's trait just like with other -ese's) and a 10 month old Burmilla boy who eats everything in sight, including various electrical cables.

Sadly we lost Rufus this morning.

We'll never know for certain, but it's likely he lost the fight with secondary cancer following the surgery last summer. He's been occasionally howling with pain with no discernible cause for a few days. He had a bout of this early this morning and I got a nip or two trying to calm him. Later he bit Mrs Doggy's hand and arm fairly badly as she tried to help him, so we had no real choice but to end his suffering.

Apart from being a bit neurotic, he had the loveliest nature and most heart-melting looks of any of our cavaliers. He had just turned 9 years old.

So Doggy has no dog(s) for the first time in over 15 years. Going to take a bit of getting used to.
