Not exactly a private plate but whilst serving out in Cyprus for three years i had a Nissan 200sx, their number plates are three letters followed by three numbers.
The other motor that the missus drives is a company car so when we changed it tries to get a regular plate but wanted a certain one.
difficulty is that the last three letters denote the cars original area of purchase, so i would have had to travel to get the car anyway, did all the relevent bits and pieces with the DVLA but the plate was already issued,
i was trying to get
GU 55 CAR
translated and moved around to read
GU5'5 CAR
if any one ever sees it for sale please let me know

GU55 CAR is gone but how about this? A snip at only £1999....
You can change the car to a 407... (but I wouldn't )
I always wanted REE5Y, but I see that it went for £13000 at auction a long time ago. A dipsy bint I used to work with once asked why I didn't buy DAV1D . £50000 in 1992!
I'll have to wait another 8 years to get DA15 CAR
I have a mate called Russel Tann who's been saying for years that he was going to get RU55 TAN, but when it came out he didn't even try to get it , never found out why!

Rules stipulate you cannot have a registration that suggests the car is younger than it is.
For example, I cannot use any number plate that has anything younger than N reg.
I was looking to getting P405 BRT (translation of PADS BRAT) but as my car is on an N plate, I cannot.
So if your car is on the old prefix system of reg plate, you cannot register it to a suffix plate.
