having a whine
removed the in tank fuel pump today, would it have been too much trouble to make hole a little bit f,#*ing bigger, looking at it the actual pump it just clips in but I have to buy the whole assembly. sorry about that I had to get it of my chest.
If it doesn't fit you need a bigger hammer

Re: having a whine
Quite a few people have struggled with the too-small access hole under the seat and several have resorted to dropping the tank rather than trying to fit the pump / sender unit thro said orifice. My bro's had 3 406's and has a 100% record of having to butcher the floor and being left with a fuel leak after shoving it back together.
If you've got yours fixed without enlarging the hole in floor, cutting your hand open on the ragged edges or it leaking whenever the tank's full, it may nor feel like it but you've won!

got it done without butchering the floor, but it did cost some blood.

Re: having a whine
The hole in the floor was designed before lift pumps existed, so it's only meant for access to a sender. Obviously when PSA started fitting lift pumps it was too much bother to modify the panel

Re: having a whine
It wasn't very hard once I figured it out, undo the locking ring push it over the pump so it goes between top of the tank and floor panel, lift the pump at an angle so it goes between the widest cut outs then force it side ways and it pops through. if I knew how I'd do a video and post it
