Photobucket Fix

Post by Doggy »

Picked this up on another forum, works for me......

As we know photobucket has gone down the charging route and some great photos from the pages on this thread have all but gone. Use these instructions below and trust me it works. I can see all the photobucket photos on here again. Its from Google and is free.

If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the top right side of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on extensions. Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install. Same result.

I can now see all the old stuff, let me know if it works for you.

It'll be fine - not like we're posting it on a public forum or anything.

Given it's a publicly available extension I'm sure the thieving Wayne Kerrs are well aware of it but there's probably nothing they can do about it. They change the way the images show on their end and the plugin will be modified to catch up. The only way to stop it would be to break the links permanently and even further hurt their reputation.

I'm guessing it's just the individual user who can see the pics though, not general internet surfers? for example I still can't see doggy's avatar.

I might be knackered having closed by PB account and taken all my pics back. I'm guessing google images have got 'copies' of every pic ever posted, although I can't help thinking this fix is more of a 'hotlinking' thing? in which case it's not much good for non-funded Forums because of the bandwidth thing?

Someone badgered me into 'fixing' my mega Volvo threadage over on the Volvo Forum where I've got a 42K viewed 'how to' thread that the whole world loves.

Anyway it forced me to finally sort out a new image host (thanks to imgur) and I set about replacing all the links with new ones to bring the tread back to life......an HOUR later it's all good again but ffs what a faf, cheers photobucket :frown:
