Dogmobile 3 The Camper

Post by Doggy »

Finally stopped dithering and bought one, picking it up this Thursday. This here's a Concorde Charisma 2 890M

In a perfect world it would be LHD, manual and have a drop down bed over the front seats, (none of which boxes it ticks). but it's taken an age to locate one in good nick at a sensible* price. It's currently only a 2 berth, but does have a 5.5m awning and safari room, (tent wot attaches to the awning).
Underpinnings are Iveco 3.0 170bhp 6-speed semi-auto, twin rear axle with diff lock/air suspension, 31k miles.

Coming soon to the front of a queue you may be caught up in.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

That does look rather lovely inside - although I would advise you to use the shower once you are stationary...

Bejesus, look at the size of it! which begs the question, where will you keep it?

I approve btw, I can see why you've gone for that one and how cool are those Captain's Chairs I don't think I'd ever tire of spinning them round

It's 'only' 9m /29'6" long. Some of the Yank RV's I tried to fall in love with were around 35'
Nearest storage site with space / adequate security is at Deeping St James.
Hoping next year I can moor it in central France and do the first/final 500 miles each way in the car, saving on fuel and ferry costs.

Presumably you'd need to bring it back to the UK once a year for an MOT?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Yes - MOT, service and perhaps the odd trip in the UK
