Makes those cars a much more attractive proposition, thank you for the heads-up.
Can get them very cheap as well as people are scared of them, the son in law got the 2.2 for £250 as its an insurance write off. Passenger rear door and sill is dented was all that was wrong

I know your looking at French Eric but what about a Mondeo diesel estate,it's still a DW10 engine.
Hi Brett,
I did think about it and find it very confusing because some Mondeo/X-type engines are DW10's but many are not, (despite all being described as 2.0 TDCi's). I know how to tell between a DW12, (2179cc) & Ford 'Duratorque' 2198cc. Bizarrely you get the Ford engine in Citroen/Peugeot vans, Mondeos / X-types and the DW12 in some Land Rovers.

Not sure. My bro's keen on going, but it might be too close to our planned camper van trip to Austria.
I'll let you know nearer the time, but thank you for the offer of a go in the 407(s).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
The X-Type and MK3 Mondeos all have the ZSD/Puma Ford diesel engine. They're really a great engine, loads of torque, very smooth and very efficient but they installed an unreliable Delphi fuel system and became renown for injector failure. As far as I'm aware they were all DPF-free, certainly the Mondeos were but some later X-Types may have had a DPF. Refurbished injectors can be picked up reasonably cheaply along with the software to programme them in, so it's not the big 4 figure scary bill it used to be.
My biggest gripe is the fact it's the same engine they fitted to the MK6 and MK7 Transit, unfortunately no amount of pretty body panels can hide the sound.
MK4 Mondeos, other than the 1.8TDCi all came with a PSA derivative.
