Clutch switch
Hi where abouts is the clutch switch on a 2.0 HDI 406 saloon 2004 and what are the pros and cons to unplugging it many thanks, Pugster

It's at the top of the clutch pedal - I think it's a brown connector.
It's there to deactivate cruise control, and also to stabilise the engine revs when changing gear..
You may find the performance of the car is a little bit more spritely when it's unplugged, at the cost of occasion spluttering when going through the gears - although you get accustomed to it.

Also does it make it so you have to maintain it more as in reduce the life of gearbox or clutch or even the engine by unplugging it ?

Apart from the cruise thing, the ecu uses it to tell it what to do with the idle, if it doesn't see the switch operate it'll hold the revs higher (until the car's stationary). I can't see it having much to do with gear changes, unless you're really slow...
