Oh I so remember that.

I remember wanting the 406 after seeing it in that ad!

Little did I know, I would only have to wait 6 years for the chance.

Only remember the shortened version of that ad. On topic, here's cars adverts I remember that I've had since being aired

Vauxhall Nova - Driving through a building site to "La Bamba"
Peugeot 405 - driving through fire/explosions to "Take my breath away"
Citroen AXGT - Going round bends avoiding Cupid's Arrow to "Cupid, pull back your bow"
Peugeot 306 - On beach, smart piece says "Nice car, wanna show me what it can do"

The others were obviously forgettable...
2007 Mondeo Titanium X 2.0 TDCi
2007 307cc Sport 2.0 HDi 136
Gone but never forgotten: 2002 406 Coupe SE 2.2 HDi

To be honest, that advert doesn't show much of the car... Disappointingly enough :(

Having lived in germany til 1993, I'm not privvy to the older car ads. Infact, the 406 one is probably the oldest I can remember. That and a Ford Escort advert with a song with a male singer singing "Keep on runnin" to it whilst you watch the car drive along as all 4 seasons flicker past in 30 seconds.

That's what Citroen should have done with the xantia (and the xsara). Taken them straight from the showroon and stacked them up in a scrapyard.

I can't believe it was so long ago  I remember it well.

Hey, they would not spend that much on adverts these days would they?

Thinking about it I might write to Peugeot and suggest they make a sequel to that advert.

It could go something like this.......

~~ flickering flashback~~

10 Years on with that 406.......

The man is on his surburban driveway, looking stressed, with his Wife and Children looking on with unhappy faces, the bonnet is up and some basic tools are strewn around the floor .......
  • He's trying to find out where all that coolant is pissing out of
He can't open the rear doors
    The Carpets are wet
The air con packed up years ago
And the engine is making a 'funny noise'
There's a knocking on the rear end.............

*gets coat*
