Well done pris.

My collegue is doing the Cannonball run in July, £2,500.00 entry fee

I fear that following the Gumball accident last week that these events will get bad publicity (but I hope not).

When you look at the Gumball clips on YouTube you notice a common theme.........Rich 'Cads' with the ability to buy all the top end cars but without the skills to operate them safely :|

You still have another year to find a £500 car, no point looking yet.

If you fancy doing 1 this year then enter the Barcelona Bangers Rally in Sept, £150 and you need a car worth £200.
I'm doing it with 3 m8s. http://www.barcelonabangers.co.uk/ Its officially full but I know someone selling there entry if you want it?

I'm also doing the Crumball Rally The Italian Job in July. http://www.crumballrally.co.uk

Wont be competing in any events this year as the impeding purchase of a house looms amongst other things...

2008 will be my first year 'rallying' and if succesful I will start looking around at the other rallies that are run also.

There are so many different rallies to choose from, how many you done in the past gerodieboy?

pris, what you need is a favour from one of us, to loan you our 406 for £500, and then once you have finished the rally we 'buy it back' :cheesy: for £500
just dont 'borrow' a D9 as it will never make it 8)

If ur gonna get a 406 make sure its a D8 2.0 Turbo, as it will be pointless doing the 'ring' in anything less powerfull.

Good idea, maybe the excuse i've been looking for to buy a V6. Dunno if i'll get one for £500 or less though.

2.0 Turbo shouldn't be too hard to get hold of on the cheap though. Loads of SRi's on eBay.

What do I need to look out for when buying a 2.0 Turbo D8? Anything I need to majorly aware of, any known faults?

Just make sure the turbo works I guess ;) A few ppl have had something or other sticking on 'em... (not me tho 8) )

Might be worth checking the cambelt's not seen 100k too. Mine's starting to approach that because it's just such an expensive thing to have done on this model, and I doubt someone wanting £500 for the car would have recently splashed out something approaching that amount to have it done! Although having said that if it's going to spend some time sitting unused on your driveway, you can always change it yourself with a few quid and an engine crane ;)

Other than that it's all rock solid!
