Insurance at 25?

Post by ThePrisoner »

Just wondering who knows anything about the insurance game, and in 2 years time when I reach 25 (GOSH!) will my insurance come down substantially?

I thought that would happen, but it didn't really. Thing is I kept getting better more expensive cars and it didn't really go up much, so if I'd stuck with the same car it would probably have dropped a bit. I'm told the "big drop" occurs at 30, but I didn't really notice that either. :?

Nope. At the age of 23, 24, 25 i was driving a Shitroen Paxo VTS (insurance group 14) and each year i actually struggled to get my quotes to come down each year.

Worst one I had was my Integrale 8v which was £1600 fully comp, but that as back in the bad old mid 90's when anything painted red with alloys was guaranteed to be stolen within 4 seconds of being parked.

I didn't really notice a year on year decline in my premiums until I got past 30 and stopped driving stupidly fast Italian stuff. The 407 costs about £400, but that's on a car costing the thick end of 30 big ones.

The Mi was a little over £100 fully comp when it was (briefly) my daily driver. Now its actually slightly more on a classic policy, although being a classic policy they didn't want my no claims, which I then reverted to the SW.

The biggest, most unexpected, drop was when I passed 35, and the insurance on the 7 series dropped from £660 to £400 or so.

Mine dropped by about 50 quid at 25 and I got that 3rd party on any vehicle clause thrown in. Direct line have always been good to me. speaking of Adrian Flux, they wern't very nice when I had my American, total shambles when I needed to cancel!

It didn't go down at 25, or 30 with me.

I'm paying £497 this week for the coupe (17k a year), cheapest was Adrian Flux with me at £475, but I'd heard more bad things about them than good,a nd normally, I'd treat insurance as a legality, but after having an accident last year, I don't want any more hassle than needed.
