Not so shiny at the mo

Post by Eric »

The car is fine, it's me that's broken

Went to the doctor this morning about my shoulder problems I've been having and she's referring me to a hospital for an ultra-sound scan because she thinks I have torn something in my shoulder

Arse.
Might have to have an operation depending on what the scan shows.
Thank god for company Bupa 8)

I really don't want an op or to not be able to work, drive or play WoW at home.

Anyway, just wanted to be a VOL (Victim of Life) for a bit and go back to nursing my shoulder.

lol
Actually that's very true.
It's World of Warcraft and on Wednesday all the servers are down for 8 hours for maintenance so there's not much else to do apart from Wank on Wednesday :P

Yes, ok I am a geek and play WoW for more hours than is healthy - But I'm not addicted.... Much...
Even though I played it for 18 hours straight on Saturday and about 12 yesterday,

But anyway, dammit!
Pity the shoulder, it's proper poorly :P

Eric, I feel maybe that it is the gaming causing you your shoulder problems.

It is well recorded that gamers muscles tense up when playing (a bit like stress) so it would follow that tearing of the soft tissue surrounding the major muscle groups and ligaments would ensue.

My diagnosis would be to limit the time spent on your console. Perhaps you could go for walks, or sit relaxing in one's Garden, with a Stella (I've been in training on this one for years with no shoulder issues).

No that's RSI.
This is caused by a sudden trauma that tears the ligaments away from the bone then allows the bone to wobble about in the socket when you move your arm - Sometimes trapping the ligaments between the bones.
The wobbly bone and popping joint is uncomfortable but not too bad, the occasions when I jerk my arm or twist it slightly they are pain personified.
Shooting pain through the shoulder and down the arm that just cripples me for a few minutes.
Not fun, especially as twice when it happened me and the Mrs have been baby making and in my passion I've moved my arm.

Proper mood killer that :frown:

Beer and garden sounds a good enough cure to try though ;)

Well, upon my medical recommendation you must tell her that from this day forth she must ride on top, thus relieving your poorly shoulder 8) this way, and as an added bonus, you can play with the fubblies instead of your console :P

All the best.

Gay, apparently.

Just an update.
BUPA rocks! :cheesy:

Phoned the company healthcare people this morning then got a call for an appointment at the BUPA hospital in Bristol tomorrow afternoon an hour later.

Slightly better than the estimated 2 months or more with the NHS 8)

Nice one boy.

I remember having to wait 3/4 months for an MRI scan. I phoned BUPA and they said "you can pop down tomorrow Sir, if that's convenient" 8)

I now realise that
Never had to worry about it before, this is the 2nd time I've been to the doctors in the past ten years and last time I was in hospital was 30 years ago.
Can't fault the NHS too much though, they do the best they can with limited resources and in emergencies are excellent and life saving.

Well just an update.
Saw the consultant today and had some x-ray done apart from a slight build up of hard stuff on my shoulder my bones are good 8)
He suspects it might be what he hopes it isn't, in a torn rotator cuff.
He thinks I may have torn my bicep partly off the top of my arm in the shoulder so I have to go in next week for an injection in the joint then a MRI scan

He says if it is that, I'll need an operation to fix it

Proper scared of operations as I'm totally against them unless it's life or death.... Wondering if I can live with the pain rather than have to go through the op if needed.

Still we'll see, I might be lucky and he'll say 6 weeks of rest whilst being waited on by naked Swedish chicks will do the job :D

But I doubt it.
