my new beast

Post by darrenwall »

finally bought myself a 405 Mi16 after wanting one for a few years :D . as much as i loved my 406 i wanted something a bit sportier and i didnt fancy the bills that come with owning a v6 ( plus i dont think i would have got a v6 for under £500 ) . the 406 is a pretty good handling car but after driving the Mi16 which feels like a go kart my 406 feels like an oil tanker  but a very comfy one at that :cheesy: . i sold my 406 for £400 on ebay and its being collected friday so after that will i have to hand in my owners badge and get unceremoniously kicked out of the 406oc or can i still stay a member pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease :cheesy:
here she is hope u like :D

Nah you can stay on as an honorary member mate  Although I reckon you'll be off finding a "specialist" forum and forgetting all about us

Me likes your Mi16 :D , although I always preferred them in that dark grey colour. 8)

PS: Tell the bloke who buys your 406 that he owes me a quid for the sticker..... 8)

Smart. How much did she cost you out of interest? Just wondering if price's are on the up for a standard nice example?

Funny enough ive always liked white ones.

i had it for £500 but it needs a little bit of money spent on it , new window mechanism for drivers side £15 , new headlining ( cos the sunroof aint working and the previous owner tried to fix it ) £15 , needs a radio and rear speakers and there is a bit of a dent thats been badly knocked out on the rear passenger door so im gonna put a new one on there so less than £100 should sort it . it only had 1 month mot tho but its only done 1500 miles since the last one and i had it on a ramp in my local tyre place and everything is nice and tight :cheesy: . they are extremly rare to get hold of now cos most of them have been cut up for 205's so i didnt mond buying one that needs a little bit of work but the main thing is the engine runs perfect all the way up to the 7500 rpm rev limiter :cheesy: .
perhaps james can help me with the other fault , when you accelerate hard in first and change quick to second it gives a big crunch , it doesnt happen when you take your time so am i right in thinking its the syncromesh on second is on its way out / gone :?

Back to good ol' 405's. Stunning cars. Lok how much more modern they look to simular cars of their age (Sierra, Cavalier). I'll bet it shifts a bit more than your TD!!

if you drive it like a granny its slow as hell like it accelerates so slow from 50 to 70 in top so you gotta drop it to 3rd and rev the nuts of it :cheesy: makes a nice sound as well so you dont mind doing it and even tho i been driving it like that all week i still got 160 miles out of £20 of petrol and i was only getting 170 miles in my 406

A collegue used to have a MI16 LeMans a few years back, you don't see many of them now

It's a shame all the 205 fanbois are carving up these 405's they have very tidy handling (better than the 406) and are a decent comfy cruiser too.

Nice one Darren.

Ace buy there!

Allways been a huge fan of the Mi16 and I allmost bought one myself instead of the 406. Just tidy up the plastics around the car and it should look pretty mint. Shame they are becomming so rare over there in the UK! Hell I saw 3 on the roads yesterday just pottering about my neighbourhood! Allways liked them in red but they fade bigtime out here, white would be my first choice!

When you sell it on again, make sure it doesn't go to a 205'er! :)

Been there done that.

I miss my M16. It was falling apart with 300000km+ when I got my first 406! :)

I like the red better than my silver/grey I had though.
