Shell V Power Diesel
Anyone used this yet? I've been using it past few weeks and its made an improvement. I've found it does:-
Lowers Engine Noise
Slight Increase in Performance
3-4MPG more.
Its around 6p per litre more than normal Diesel, but I think I'm gonna keep on using it.
More INFO here
I do most of my driving in towns rather than on Motorways. So I often spend about £30 a week doing 210 miles or so.
Last week with V Power Diesel I done 215 miles and it cost me £28 to fill up. So using V Power has saved me £2 last week.

I've been running on V-power for over a month.
Made a noticeable difference to the throttle response. Seams faster but can't say for sure.
I can't comment on the mpg as pretty much since swapping from normal shell to v-power i have been have running problems (bit of a missfire at certain revs and other factors) which i think are injector related. Need to get it looked at.
I'd probably believe the extra 3 to 4 mpg thou.

I am not blaming the v-power, if i was i wouldn't keep filling up with it
. Had the same problem with normal tank of shell when i couldn't get v-power.
I think its just the extra cleaning stuff in it has probably removed a build up from a dodgy injector. making it get worse a bit quicker, i think the injector has been getting slowly worse for long time. car has done 156k now.
Need to book it into diesel specialist and cross my fingers its only one! Just a pain to get it done as it 15miles to the specialist who are on the outer ring, so will be kind of stuck there! Also means using day(s) holiday to do it, as it will take too long to get there and back to work from home

Nope, needs to go to a diesel specialist wit specialist equipment to fine out which one (hopefully one) of the injectors is causing the problem.
Normally garage will just spend hours swapping injectors round till they think they have sorted it (and probably haven't). Then charge me x hours for the privilege.

Might it be a wiring problem? have you looked at the wires to the injectors it might be chafed?
I would say that if you have a dodgy injector(s) you will get Diesel knock and it would sound rough.
I would say that the HDi injectors would be good for at least 200,000 miles.

I am still running on vpower, i think it makes noticeable difference. Still getting about 54mpg even with running problems.Welton wrote:Might it be a wiring problem? have you looked at the wires to the injectors it might be chafed?

Have refitted the connectors and it seamed abit better. I am getting Diesel knock and engine stutter at certain revs and temps, the engine does sound rough, even the tea lady commented on how rough it sounded when i drove past her! Probably best things it to get the injectors tested/clean at the specialist. Just means taking time of work and messing round.

Re: Shell V Power Diesel
I've just put in £45.00 in V-Power Diesel for the first time evAr on an *empty* tank and driven 60miles........WOW! quite a difference I would say
Engine is very smooth, more power (even past 3000rpm), quieter too! it's even lost some of that Diesel clatter between 2000 and 3000 rpm.
Can't wait for darkness so I can carry out my special 'smoke comparisson test' on the car behind
All in all very impressed

Re: Shell V Power Diesel
I've just gone back to normal shell stuff and you can feel the difference, car is flatter and not as response. The tank of 50/50 v-power normal probably drop 1 mpg, but could have not been anything to do with the fuel.
Will have to see what i get out of the second stronger tank of normal shell. Still getting the rough running when low revs when cold
Only went back to the normal stuff because 106.9 is so bloody expensive!

Re: Shell V Power Diesel
I'm still using V Power Diesel, even paying 107.9p for it today instead of 101.9 for normal Diesel.
For the sake of £2-£3 extra per week it seems to make driving better.
