Went out in a Dodge Caliber Diesel

Post by Eric »

I went out in a mates Dodge Caliber TD this weekend and it's a different world.
Alright the interior is really cheap and makes the 406 seem like a Rolls in comparison but it's got a great engine in it.
It's revs and pulls like a petrol engine and I was very impressed.
It made me realise that Diesel doesn't always mean slow and limp like in the 406
The handling was also excellent on the Dodge, sharp and responsive and not at all wallowey and bouncy like the 406.

Where I'd be pottering along at 1.1k revs the dodge was doing 3k and pulled really well.
Bet the mpg sucks in the Dodge though :)

Still quite impressed, I was expecting it to be shite and it wasn't.

I never thought I'd think of a French car having a good build quality but I do now  :P

American's 'don't do' interiors :|

I know what you mean though, modern cars are alot better than the 406 because the chassis' are better.

I do like the soft floaty though sometimes, when you don't want to be bothered by all that driving/feedback nonsence and just want to float home quietly.

Oh man that interior!
I could see the plastic burrs around the door pin where the hole was drilled in the top of the door trim.
Oh and seams in the chrome plating on the handles.
And the interior is made of hard dimpled plastic with leather seats, the rest of the interior looks scalpel sharp

I hate those hard scratchy plastics for interiors. Our 406's only have one bit like this, down by the handbrake.

I think the 406 interior is quite nice really. I'm not too keen on this fashion to put fake aluminium silver trim *everywhere*.

I'd rather stick with my fake polished walnut

Is it really that bad to have wood now? I've lost touch a bit here TBH
