While we were I out I thought I may as well go home to feed my cats (I'm staying at hers full time to save on heating). My road wasn't so good so I thought I'd better pull out the way onto my driveway. Mistake. My driveway is about 50 yards long and quite a slope down the side of the house to where the garages are where it's flat. It looked ok and it didn't even cross my mind it could be a problem. So I slowly pulled on backwards, put the brakes on and slid all the way to the bottom. Still backwards, still slowly and panicking all the way because I didn't know if I'd spin round and hit the house or end up hitting the trees at bottom.
Fortunatly we stopped outside the garages and after about a minute I'd calmed down and we tried to get out - ice skating anyone? It took us 10 minutes to get from the car to my house! I bought some snow chains a few months back but do you think I could work out how to fit the things? When I got them I meant to try fitting them in the dry but I kind of forgot. "Put the green part towards.." "What effing green part??!" I managed to get ther loop behind the tyre and the chains to the front but for the life of me I couldn't work out how it all fits together. Anyway, my neighbours came to the rescue with ashes and salt so, after some more sliding about, we finally managed to escape.
And now it's snowing
