Howdy stranger!
...and people complain about BT
Anyway, tollerable Chritmas and fair New Year's, can't ask for much more at my age
My Pug's filthy again, despite the hot (yes, hot) shower it got last Monday
They did something similar to me here, changed my connection speed to something stupidly expensive without asking me and charged me accordingly, then claimed it had always been like that. Then they changed my traffic to the minimum and, as I was downloading, I went miles past it and got charged accordingly, then they claimed etc. It also took them almost 6 months to change me from ISDN to ADSL because they lost my paperwork, I spent all this time with NO Internet connection.TehAgent wrote:stupid service provider decided to steal money out of my bank and threw my internet connection in to disarray.

There's only so many times you can tolerate speaking to someone in bombay telling you to check your microfilter!steve_earwig wrote:...and people complain about BT

Always brings back memories of "It aint half hot Mum" speaking to BT!

Re: Just a quick hello
i would say, I'm not going to name the company involved but, to be honest, id rather let people know so they don't get stung the hard way.
Had to cancel the car insurance on my Xantia when i sold it, to take out new car insurance on the 406, stupid bank decided to cancel the Internet Direct debit too yet forgot to inform me and the wife. next thing you know, we ring up the Internet peeps to pay a bill over the phone. give them the big long number on the front of the card, then the 3 digit security code on the back, they took the payment, thanked us, and we thought nothing else of it.
In the mean time, we find it more convenient to pay the Internet off with the paying in-slips rather than waiting on the phone to connect to something that tries to pass as human.
One day the wife wants a contract phone, so we head off into town to go visit a phone shop, hand over her card to do the £1 in the bank and then withdraw it thing, and it fails, so we head off down the bank, and get told that the account has been closed, (we use the wife's account for Direct debits and other payments and mine for wages) upon further investigation, we find that VIRGIN MEDIA took two subsequent payments from that account at £23 each, IE £18 for a 2 meg line, and a £5 non direct debit cash handling fee on top. then the bank charges me wife for going overdrawn and they close the account.
We explain what has happened, the bank opens a new account for my wife, and then file a unauthorized payment notice to VIRGIN.
After getting the funds back from virgin, they threw a hissy fit and put a stop on our connection, until we pointed out that they had committed fraud and left my misses with a bank account with less functions.
Amazingly we are now back online with a 20meg line. 2 months later for the price of a 2meg line.
Moral of the story, don't pay with a card if you ever need to make a payment, use the paying in-slip instead, its a lot safer.

I'm still watching for HT to rip me off again - I reckon it's only a matter of time.
