Isn't Technology Marvelous?

Kite to pull ship across Atlantic

Crikey, who'd have thought they could use the wind to drive a ship? Just think, in a few years all ships could be powered this way! I suppose it would help in they made them out of something lighter, say wood. They could make cars out of wood too, and maybe use horses to pull them.

Apparently, mjb has been in talks with them to produce a SkySail for a D8 2.0 turbo estate. He is hopng to see a 15% fuel saving on his commute to work, how about that?

If successful, we might be able to enter into a 'group buy' 8)

I'd be happy to get *any* saving on the way to work! I'm doing 10x less miles than I used to, but not even managing to put 4x less petrol in!

I'm seriously considering walking or riding a bike when the weather stops sucking

It's funny m because now my workplace has moved a further 8 miles of steady 60MPH rural roads I was hoping for more than my indicated 34.4MPG average so I reset the brute and went on a diet of ubber-grandad style.

f*ck me, it's such a painfull experience and that fuel computor bastardo punishes you at the slightest extra squeeze of the throttle only to make you sweat it out for ages and give you 0.5MPG back about 24hrs later :frown:

I'm currently on 38.2 :|

: "Please Mr Fuel Computer, can I have an extra MPG? I've been really carefull"

: "No, No, No - there's a hill up ahead let's not be hasty now."

Don't talk to me about grandad driving, I did it for about a year once. One day some stupid tart in her 4x4 shopping mobile rammed me because I was between her in the inside lane of a roundabout and her exit. It ended up in court, she claimed I'd tried to cut round her inside, when I said that was impossible because of my economical driving style it went down like a lead balloon. The magistrate also told me that it is up to a driver pulling on to the roundabout to watch out for cars already on it, not the other way around. So next time you're on a roundabout you are perfectly at liberty to ram other cars out of the way. I still wonder if the senile old fart could actually drive.

Anyway, do we actually believe what these computers are telling us, has anyone tested it in the time-honoured fashion?
