Yum!

Thai diners show appetite for rat
For some reason I feel a little ill.

Baldrick: Right, how about a nice meal, while you chew it over?

Blackadder: [suspicious] What's on the menu?

Baldrick: Rat. [shows him a big black rat] Saute or fricassee.

Blackadder: [peers at the rat] Oh, the agony of choice. Saute involves...?

Baldrick: Well, you take the freshly shaved rat, and you marinade it in a puddle for a while.

Blackadder: Hmm, for how long?

Baldrick: Until it's drowned. Then you stretch it out under a hot light bulb, then you get within dashing distance of the latrine, and then you scoff it right down.

Blackadder: So that's sauteing, and fricasseeing?

Baldrick: Exactly the same, just a slightly bigger rat.

Blackadder: Well, call me Old Mr. Un-adventurous but I think I'll give it a miss this once.

Fried or boiled? D'ya want chips with that?

I used to have two rats, they were called Quiqueg and Zola, their favourite thing was to climb up under my jumper, come out at my neck and nuzzle my ear. The only problem with keeping rats as pets is they only live 3 years max and generally die of something horrible. Still, I could no more eat a rat than I could a dog. A horse, on the other hand...

I saw a documentory about rodent infestation in restaurant kitchens and the like and im sure they said some rodents leave a constant trail of piss or rather traces of piss. They showed the trails using some spray stuff and UV light if I remember.

Kinda like leaving a scent or mark. Eau de rat piss :)

Yes, the head chef was preparing home made 'spotted dick' that day so had all the raisins and currents out on the work surface ready, unfortunately there was a mix up.......not nice :(

I sit corrected:
I'm astounded, mine were both females and never even, umm, pooped outside the cage. They were my (then) other half's idea and I took some convincing that they were going to be clean and disease-free because I had the usual "rats? Filthy disgusting things!" prejudice. Anyway, it would still have been worth it to see the look of shock on my brother's face when I told him I had rats living in my house...

Scent marking, not incontenance, therefore no apology necessary.
