Windscreen Washer Stopped Working?

Post by GeordieBoy »

I cant hear the pump going, I have water in, and I've checked fuse 25 and its seems ok, so I think pump might be foooked or do you think its something else?.
Is the pump in the washer bottle? Easy to replace?

It might be blocked. To get to it you have to pull back the front of the rhs wheel arch liner (might be easier to take it off), the pump's a push fit in the bottom of the tank, easy to replace but I seem to remember the genuine Pug item is very pricey. Try pulling the feed pipe off first and see if it's passing water :cheesy:

Take the hose off it, hook up a 9v battery and if it pisses water, it's a wiring problem, else just go to ebay and grab yourself a new pump

Could be the stalk too I suppose :?
If you can isolate the wires that connect to the washer switch try shorting them together in the plug.

ooh actually... unplug the pump and shove some multimeter probes in there. Rest the multimeter somewhere you can see it (set to voltage not current!!!) and hit the washer. If you see 12v, it's definitely the pump

There's an inspection hatch on the D9 in front of the wheel arch , under the bumper, gets you right to the washer bottle, 3 Torq screws. If you find any illegal imigrants in there clear them off immediately

Mine was blocked :( I couldn't see any cover either, maybe it was behind all the ice and snow when I did it.

Finally had a chance to have a look at it today. I took the wires off the pump and connected the pump to a battery and it worked fine with water going onto the windscreen, so there's nowt wrong with the pump. The Fuses seem ok, but I'm not sure which Fuse I was supposed to look at. So it either a wiring fault or the indicator stalk. I looked at the indicator stalk and give up, cos it looks there is nowt on there I can check. Does anyone know what I should be checking on the indicator stalk? I'm not even sure which wires are for the windscreen pump.
