Whats the Fuel Tank Capacity of an HDi?

Post by GeordieBoy »

I thought it was 60 litres, but I was just under 1/4 full today and it took 62 litres £69 to fill it @ Shell 112.9p/ltr, that would make it an 80 litre Tank?

Officially it's 70l, but I've put 71 in there in one fill (computer was showing ---- for about 10 miles before I filled up), so I reckon it must have a "reserve", possibly extra 5l?

Someone round here managed to get 60 litres in a 40 litre tank a while ago, there was a mention on tv that he's trying to sue the company but, as corruption is endemic and no-one seems to care much, he won't get anywhere.

The most I've managed to get in the D8 appears to be 62.72 litres, I'm not too sure about the D9 as I've read on here I'd be wasting my time trying to calculate the consumption, but it's usually somewhere around 60. I'm not sure if I like the way the warning light is set up either, it seems to be put up by the BSI when it "thinks" you're running out. I preferred the ones on my BXs, if I couldn't make the light flicker by chucking the car about then I knew it was serious.

When you fill your tank to the brim you are carrying 70Kgs of weight in the boot - that's like having a dead donkey in there! your MPG will suffer and if anyone steals your car the get a free 500 mile ride out of you.

I go for £25/30 fills.

It's one of those tiny donkey's you see on the beech with funny hats - I reckon one of those would fit in the boot of a 406.

It's around 5% economy drop, and only on acceleration as long as your tyres aren't flat. You'll also coast slightly further with the extra weight...

I usually put 68-72 litres in, but the most I've ever done is about 76 litres in the tubby
