Mrs has had her first accident

Post by Eric »

Bless, now she can join most drivers ranks in saying she's had a crash.

Got a call this morning to say she's just rear ended someone at a roundabout.
Whilst they were swapping details some rubber-neckers proceeded to do the same thing right next to them

Oh well, new front bumper and bonnet needed on the Mrs car so insurance will sort it.

/sigh

Going to be one of those days isn't it...

Yeah she's a bit shaken but fine.
Luckily we are with Admiral and the car is already booked into a local Vauxhall dealer to get a quote.
She gets a courtesy car and has protected no claims :)
Just £210 excess.

Eric, probably (hopefully) and if it's anything like the "flood" reported in our kitchen by Mrs Welly then the damage will most likey be fairly minor.

It's easily done at roundabouts, especially at rush hour.

Hope it gets fixed without too much fuss.

Cheers mate.
From what she's described (haven't seen it myself yet) it sounds like a new bumper/ splitter/ grill /Bonnet.
Lights are ok as are the wings (apparently) and so is the radiator etc.
So limited damage but still costly, thank god it's not us paying :)

And yes the most common fender bender there is, I can't talk after I parked my Saxo into the back of a Rover 600 at 30mph a few years ago

Poor EZM :(

I'm suspecting might be a write off.
£4k car but new bumper, bonnet, headlight re-alignment with new brackets, grill, lower splitter, blanking plates in bumper.
+ fitting and spraying at a Vauxhall dealer.... £1k easy I reckon.

CAT D possibly?

i think the cost of repair has to be at least 50% of the market value before they consider writing a car off , it used to be that but not sure if its changed recently :?

Sorry to hear that Eric, if there's anything good about it at least it was a low speed prang & she wasn't hurt.
Hope it gets fixed quickly!

I doubt that will be written off, straight forward fix.

If they do i'd buy it back and fix it your self, probably make a few £ out off it. Especially worth doing if you've had it since new and know its a good un.

I think it's 60% of the merket value before they write it off. She's Ok and that the main thing. Hope the other drive was ok with her.

When someone went into the back of me 4 months after I'd bought the car of my dreams, I got out and was calm and checked she was ok and told her not to worry.

When I told my wife about my reaction, she started checking what pills I'd been taking!!

Well that's it exactly - its just metal at the end of the day that's insured.

Doesn't look too bad - that'll get fixed no bother I reckon. Will come back "as new" too :cheesy:

China Blue > All other colours. :cheesy:

Sucks to hear about the accident though. Glad to hear that everyone is ok! Should be repaired, the damage doesn't look that bad!
