Would this be one worth looking at?

Post by TheBargeCaptain »

So if i'm after a 110 hdi then i need one registered after 1st march 2001 (lower tax group), but before 2002 when the "air dozer" was introduced.

What do you guys think of this one?

Seems to tick all of the boxes, how does the price look?

Seems expensive for a 7 year old 406. The estate seems to fetch about £300.00 more than the saloon.

I would want it to be nearer £2,000.00 maybe less :| the a/c condenser will definately be goosed unless it's been changed already, then there's the bottom pulley to budget for too.

It looks ok in the pictures but I'd compare other prices too. It's also the "old" reg in the plate snobbery stakes :|

If it helps, I paid £3,300.00 for my tidy 1999(T) exec saloon in Jan 2006 with a 3 month warrenty (which I rinsed) and today I'd be happy to get £1,000.00 for it. If I budgeted a loss in screen price on mine of 600.00 per year then it would be up for £2,100.00 today on the forecourt. Last year the same dealer offered me £800.00 for it back as a trade in

Which boxes? When the timing belt was done was the water pump and crank pulley changed? Looking in Autotrader, you can pick up an '03 for less than that, in fact there's an '04 HDi 90 in there for the same money and that's at a dealer. Toys shouldn't really add much money to the value of a car (it's a Pug for gawd sake, more to go wrong!), it's the car itself you need to look at. You can ring it up I suppose, and maybe go look at it for the experience, but if the guy's not willing to drop a substantial amount of cash walk away, there's plenty (100's!) more fish in the sea.
