Fingers crossed

Post by Welly »

Booked the MOT for next Monday, 3 weeks ahead of schedule!

Hoping that after the huge repairs recently that all will be well :|

Biggest fears:

Rear Anti Roll Bar mounting (tank out/down job)
Battery securing (Welly bodge to follow)
Catastrophic failure during max revs emissions test

:(

I'm glad it's going to be warmer when my MOT's due, the car doesn't seem to be liking the cold much (even though I've cleaned the ICV out). Think I've got a few gunked up injectors... anyone know of a place that does while-you-wait injector cleaning?

Actually, I've not changed the fuel filter on this thing. might be worth doing, along with the plugs...

I didn't know you could still turn up for your MOT early. No chance here of course.

You have to take the roll bar off to change the bushes? The rubbers aren't split or anything? I was wondering whether to do this on the D8 as they look a bit mankey but I ran out of momentum. It's a good job I never tried.

And do they still do the "rev it 'til it goes bang" emissions tests? I thought they gave up with that 'cos too many cars did indeed go pop.

Good luck anyway mate, though I don't think you'll need it. :cheesy:

Admittedly I've never tried, but I suspect you can't over rev an Hdi. The ECU's got to join the conspiracy for that to happen.

Best of luck with it. :)

You can still do your MOT up to 21 days early, I always go for this in case it fails so I can still drive the thing away while I decide what to do or get the bits on order whatever.

And yes the emissions smoke test still has the full throttle blast

Just to add to the fun - when I got home last night there was a letter for there reminding me to re-tax the car on 31st December @ £101.75 for 6 months (forgot about this)

I only ever tax cars for 6 months!

Why not tax it for 6 then do 12 in the summer (when you're also skint)

Wish I could afford to do mine for 12 months, less money and half the amount of opportunities to forget again

Last time I forgot, I went to an airshow. Stuck in a hefty traffic jam, what do I see parked in a bus stop? A DVLA car with an ANPR camera setup next to it. No problem until a passenger took it upon himself to check the disc and found it just out of date! You don't want to know just how close to the car in front I was keeping to hide my plates  Thankfully I applied for a new one online as soon as I got home and didn't get into any trouble for it. Scary time though...

Know how you feel, my tax & MOT are both in January

Seemed ages to go when I bought it a couple of months back

I'm going to forget about it until after Christmas

Got my MOT cert here, expires on 8th Jan, and it says....
To preserve the anniversary of the expiry date the earliest you can present your vehicle for test is 09/12/2008
.... so I reckon that's 30 days :o . Any advances?

Anyway she's booked in for 16:30 on Monday. Just discovered that my usual tester is off sick (cancer  get well soon Phil!) so there's a different bloke, and that always makes me a bit nervous. Car should be fine (front tyres are well worn, but I've measured them today and they're clearly over 2mm even at the worst bit  ) but I hope Phil recovers before I've got to take the Zook in in the summer
