Displaying being the operative word, even if it's just fallen off. Although it'd be a pretty miserable copper that did you for it. Just keep your nose clean and don't give them any excuses I suppose.DVLA wrote:I have not received the tax disc. Can I use the vehicle without the tax disc displayed?
It is an offence to use a vehicle on a public road without displaying a valid tax disc.

Re: Car Tax Online
I would imagine once you have done it online if it was checked on by
anyone it would come up as having valid tax, but as steve says its all down to being
displayed and given the time of year when they are looking for any excuse to
pull and breatherlyse i wouldn't risk it

Re: Car Tax Online
Buy online as soon as you can, then print out the receipt and keep it with you in case you get pulled. Technically you could get done but as Steve says it'd be pretty harsh for them to do you, any computerised check (such as ANPR checks) will come up as it having valid tax. I find that the online system is pretty quick anyway, usually get the disc through in a few days (although maybe not at this time of year
)
So it's illegal for you not to display a valid the tax disc, so not recommended (but if I was in your situation I wouldn't worry too much about it).

I think i will have to risk it as i only get half hour dinner at work and there is no PO's for miles, do they take long to arrive if i did it on the 29th.

Re: Car Tax Online
I was thinking of that but my car failed its MOT yesterday on front brake discs and pads and a rear tyre and an apparent diesel leak it has all passed now i got it fixed but trying to avoid it just in case there an emergency. It wouldnt be so bad if half the Post Offices didnt sell car tax but for some reason only a select few do.
Re: Car Tax Online
I ordered my last tax disk online around 8am on a Monday and it was delivered the next day
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
