False economy

Post by steve_earwig »

Hi Guys, mentioning bikes in the other thread reminded me - I got these in an email Boxing Day, this is my mate in the factors old Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport he sold to another mate. The idiot would rather ride it about with a broken petrol cap than spend 80€ on a new one. They met up for a few beers on Christmas Eve, then his mate went off home, lost it on a wet road and...

Worse still, he'll have to keep paying off the loan he took out for the bike for another 7 years.

Never seen a bike catch fire

7 year loan? :?

Strangely I saw a Range Rover *fully* ablaze on the M1 near Northampton today

The dreaded external combustion engine... normally Guzzi's fall off the side stand (horrible things, spring loaded the wrong way), break the left hand plug cap & lead and combust for themselves.

I've never seen a bike burning either, I've seen a few cars though - they get bluddy hot!

They do things differently here, you can't get mortgages as such, just loans and they don't care what they're for so long as you can pay them back (or have something valuable they can take off you instead, like a house, your immortal soul, that sort of thing, if you can't make the payments).

If it's the same one I've been hearing about, they closed both carriageways for at least 2 hours, cos it had an LPG conversion...
They're 'thinking' about reopening it now.

Well bugger my old boots!

We saw it before the Police got there  and it was *really* going up and I said to my collegue "I wonder if it's a V8 wth LPG" :)

There was massive flames and huge amounts of smoke, in fact as we approached going Northbound it looked like a Petrol Tanker on fire there was so much smoke/flames. It looked like an x-reg version, certainly wasn't one of the new ones and the guy even had his wife in toe :o she was sat on the verge (a bit too close now considering the LPG)

Guess it's bound to be on the evening news if you want to check, but it sounds like the same one. On the southbound, between J17 & 16.

You'd think an LPG tank would have a blow-down to at least dump the fuel in the even of fire even if it adds to the fire (rather than it becoming an exploding vessel) :?

He's more a mate of a mate, although I have met him. He was ok, he didn't manage to barbeque himself along with the bike so he just had a "bad Christmas" (not as bad as the one he almost gave his wife and kids, the idiot).
