O.M.F.G i'm gutted

Post by ianst28 »

went to the local auctions on friday night had a couple of hundred quid so thought i'd see what was going through
had to pick a mate up before going so we got there a little late i think the first 5 or so had gone through
as we arrived the car going under the hammer is an 01 406 hdi exec in silver blue loads of test no tax (i know cuz after it had gone through i went to have a look at it to see what spec etc)

hammer falls just as we're getting in how much do you think it went for ??????

£ 300.00 thats right 300 quid

how gutted am i that i had to pick my mate up ???
also saw a 53 plate laguna dci estate go through for 1350

Look at it this way, Ian. There's two possibilities:
1. It was a real dog and you're better off without it.
2. You missed an opportunity, but if no-one was prepared to bid > £300, the next one won't be much different.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

or...

3. It had a reserve of £700 and the car didn't actually sell. (had that plenty of times when i was trying to get a 306 HDI for the wife)
2.1td exec estate.

it was quite nice really had a look at it when it was sat in the winnners enclosure
i think thats the way that cars are right now i managed to pick up an l plate audi coupe with 80,000 miles and loads of test & 3 months tax for £95
ideal run-about for the old dear till i find summat a bit better in the next couple of months
mind you a mountain bike would be better and safer than the saxo she has right now

Was this one of those scruffy local auctions, or one of the big national ones?

It's funny but whilst many shy away from the 'no warrenty' auctions you can still buy a decent car, the same car that Mr Sheepskin-Coat dealer buys, cleans up and adds £1,000.00 to :|

You're not alone on that.

My mate drove an Irish 04 mondeo TDCi with 50k and loads of test

On the forecourt it'll stand for €12k

On a trade in, he got €3.5k

The used car industry is gone to sh*t over here.

My 406 isn't worth anything over here. But money isn't everything........I filled up my 2.0 HDi 90 and drove 130 miles at a steady 60mph on the motorway. The fuel gauge needle didn't budge 8)

It wasn't stuck

Not to mention I enjoyed a nice relaxing 60 mph journey listerning to two cds back to back.

I normally do 80+ on the motorway and i burn up diesel like nothing else.

I arrived at my destination more relaxed than when i left

I'm driving 800 miles to north Germany later in the year, and I'm still undecided whether to spend 6 hours at 40mpg slipstreaming trucks on the autobahn, or blast the 300 miles in 2 hours for a cringeworthy 4-8mpg. Wonder how much time I'd lose to the petrol pumps doing that :?

It depends whether you want some money left to sample some of the fine beers once you get there.

The HDi is a pig at 110 mph. Got 20 litres out of 20 euro @ 98c perlitre

Drove the same journey again yesterday @ 60 mph. Made good time and burned 7-9 litres at most
