Renaults make 406s look as reliable as your average iron girder.
I wouldn't touch a Laguna (again) with a barge pole. In fact I worry about parking next to one in case my car catches the Laguna's utter crapness. Don't just take my word for it, look up some forums and see how Mk.1s are literally falling to bits and Mk.2s are dying electrical death because there's about 50 different ways the ECU can and will drown - if the car doesn't fall to bits first...

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: 406 HDI 110 VS Renault Lagnua dci 1.9
you could get a mint top spec 406 coupe with a 3.0 v6 engine for £2500 and have enough money left over to pay for the petrol

dont even think about it pugs are way better than renault i had a laguna and it started with a misfire so changed the plugs and leads after doin that it would not start at all it went to a garage and they could not find nothin wrong they said it needed to go to renault and they wanted £250:00 just to look at it and tell me what was wrong trust me stick with pugs

Re: 406 HDI 110 VS Renault Lagnua dci 1.9
I've driven my dads a few times, not too much between it and my re-mapped 406 but i wasn't impressed by the fuel burn- his returns low 40's where as mine is usually in the 50-53's
Former 406 owner, now just another chav in a 306 D turbo!

Surprised you didn't cause the engine block to fall to bits doing that
