Compliments Anyone?

Post by eoin27 »

Here's a question: Does anyone ever compliment your 406?

I've had 406s for two years now and i've only recieved a couple of compliments. Maybe because the 6's
were only early d9 lx's and don't have leather or loads of the later d9 trim. Anyways, it would be interesting to find out if anyone here recieves compliments about their 406's on a regular basis and what aspect of the car has been complimented.

P.s - I was only ever complimented on the car being comfortable and never on the very sexy front end it has.

"Oh my god I didn't realise we were going this fast! It doesn't feel like it!" -- passenger on the autobahn thought I was doing about 70 when I was doing double that

I call that a massive compliment :)

Yeah I've been complimented on the spec (particularly the leather) a few times and the "really smooth ride" once, but I fear that mere mortals simply don't appreciate the damned good looks!

Best compliment I ever got was when I bought the thing, drove it home and the wife didn't hate it :)

Plenty of people tell me it's a much smother ride than they expected. Not sure if this is 'cos it's a great car or their expectations were low.

And I once had a guy with a beard tell me it was a 'nice car, man'... mind you he had just come from a funeral and was pretty liquored up...

Similar for me. A VERY tall colleague tried mine - not enough headroom, bought 2.2 diesel Omega estate which, in comparison, is slow, noisy, thirsty, dull

All I get is "it's French", with all the troubles that implies. Ah well, you stick to your over-priced German garbage then

 Now there's another advantage, (being French), if things take off & they all get recycled in Hartlepool, spares could be less of a problem

The side of the car lets it down i think. Not bad looking, but it doesn't look new because mondeos and passats have very tall doors

I had 3 women in mine once (oo-er) and they ALL loved the comfort (especially the heated seats).

No-one's ever said much else though :(

I once had someone in a Coupe on the M4 slow down (I was in the Coupe, they were overtaking) and wave to me. Quite freaky at the time, never had that before in any manner of slightly unusual cars.

Not sure if that was a shared compliment, or a stalker.

I passed by a jade green d8 on the motorway (mines a jade green D9), slowed down and flashed the hazards. Only did it to get a laugh off my mates a few cars back tho :supafrisk:

I was always beeing complimented on my saloon.

I drove into a car wash one summers eve, the kind that they do it by hand, and when the boss finished he opened my passenger door, peers in and said "Nice car mate, so tidy for its age" I then told him the mileage and he was astounded.
I used that car was every week as a result :)

When I changed to my Coupe, I drew up to the car wash and their jaws more or less dropped to the floor. "It'll be a pleasure cleaning this" the boss said, peering into the interior.

When I pick up work mates, I always get a "Nice car!" comment too.
