Help with selling advice please

I'm getting near to putting an advert in Autotrader but is it best to just advertise it on he web site only?

Also do you have to describ things luike they do on ebay wth a list of good things and bad things (not that there are any in particular realy)

Ads on Autotrader don't need that sort of negative info, that's just eBay ads as they are legally binding and have to give an honest description of whats on sale. On the Autotrader ad, just put all positive stuff and let the buyer find out any negatives for themselves. As they say in private car sales, buyer beware!

I dunno, I'm never keen on selling cars with problems and, even though it's already cheap, buyers wil use problems to try and drop it further. How about fix the air con (they start at 70 quid on ebay), ignore the clutch (driver error I reckon ) and put it up for sale with the sun blind as it's only defect at 1,200 then let them knock you down a ton or so.

You've just answered your own question there. Why spend another £70+ on top of your time and labour when you don't need to? Just tell the potential buyer that it needs 'topped up' as all dodgy sellers say...

I'm liking your idea with the old clutch slippage. No chance you could spend some time rolling or forcing the sunblind back in so it looks ok?

Because it could potentially earn a few hundred quid. I get what you're saying but buyers don't see things like that, it's a bargaining chip to drop the price, whether it's reflected in the asking price or not. I know what I'd think too - "if it's only the condenser why didn't you fix it? Hmm, I bet it's much more than that..." I suppose that could just be my natural cynicism though.

I think I'll just risk it and sell it as it is

I had to buy a tyre on Saturday (got a part-worn Goodyear Eagle Touring for £20.00 )

After all the spending recently it'll be like throwing good money after bad (and I may need a little fund for the Volvo tyre(s)).

The 406 is in cracking condition and it's super clean so I reckon it'll be ok.

If its any help I paid £950 for an x reg 2.0 hdi 110 last month through a private sale with 136k on the clock, below average bodywork but sound mechanics and non working a/c (non declared but then i didn't ask ..oops !). Limited service history non main dealer with a lot of diy servicing ...

I was doing some scouting around on Autotrader last night and was surprised to see most were advertised at around £1200 to £1700

Most of the interior pics looked filthy too

My car is super-clean and has had loads spent recently with a full documented history so I reckon I might try for some more lolly on this one.
