Anyone into push-bikes? can you reccomend a bike rack?

Post by EvilTwin »

Got a D9 estate, and a son thats learning to ride his bike. Presumably when he stops falling off, and I stop laughing at him, he's going to want to go out on the bike somewhere. Which in turn means I'm going to need a bike rack to carry my sons smaller bike, and eventually 2 adult bikes. Can anyone recommend good makes of bike racks, or point me in the way of what I'm better off looking for.

If its any help, I'll be fitting a towbar to the car for pulling a caravan, if this is a better way of mounting bikes on the back, but the tow ball itself must still be usable.

You've got a 406 estate! Just drop the back seat, chuck the bikes in and don't forget your cave exploration equipment when you go to try and take them out. Survival equipment is a must in case you get lost and can't find your way back out...

If I fold the back seats, then i have to fold the dog and 5 year old boy that usually reside there.

Paddy Hopkirk used to do some decent bike racks i had one that went a tow ball and you can do pull ups on it also they a range that will go round the back of the tow ball but remember to get some longer tow bolts

might be better to buy a small trailer as you have a tow bar
if you but them on the roof you cant see them, plus you got to buy roof bars

if you but them on the back you cant open the hatch[poor dog] and you will need a light board to be legal
and you will find a millon uses for the trailer once you have one
