Do 90bhp HDI's come with Digi a/c?

Post by lofty »

Looking at a 2000 hdi LX, advertised as a 90bhp (no underbonnet shots - i have asked!!) but its got digital a/c.....

I thought it was only the 110's that had digital a/c?

Or am i blowing it out my hat?

As far as I know, and I'm pretty damn sure I am correct, ALL D9's have digital climate control.

Another serious question, My 110 has met an untimely end, would i be dissapointed in the performance of the 90? bearing in mind i commute 500 miles a week, so drive like miss daisy to save fuel?

I never drove my 110 hard, ever.

Most would say yes you would be a bit dissapointed BUT I'd say take your time - don't pass up on a really nice condition 90.

The 90 is more simple and less likely to give grief but if you felt like it you could get it re-mapped to 120bhp and mucho torques (and allegedly more mpg's too!).

Only drawback with the 90 is that it did not come in exec flavour :|

Other than the engine and brakes, there is no trim difference between a 90 and 110, so a 90 LX will be apparently identical to a 110 LX of the same model year in terms of trim and equipment, depending on any additional options the original owner specced.

Drive a few 90s, because like to 110 the performance can be very variable. A good 90 will feel brisk and not a lot different from the 110, but a tired and tugid one will feel a sluggard. Neither 90 or 110 are exactly quick so ther isn't much that the seat of the pants dyno can tell between the two if you find a good 90. I drove 5 x 90's and 2 x 110s before settling on my old 51k mile 90. You don't need to worry about seizing rear brakes or fragile DMFs on a 90, so provided you choose carefully they're a robust and useful tool, much underrated.

I appreciate what you say, My old Octavia 110tdi (before remapping) would easily out pace my 110hdi, hand over fist. The lack of DMF is a distinct bonus tbh, especially as mine was getting very audiable.

I'm having a look at a couple over the next few days, probably with my current sedate driving style, i'll be none the wiser. I assume the 90's come with drum rear brakes then? Again, not an issue to me.

Are bottom Pulleys the same? Mine on the 110 is 200 miles old so will be coming off regardless. (still got the old one to shove back on)

Its been shortened..... somewhat.

just waiting on the insurance assessor but more than likely beyond saving. To say im gutted is an understatement.

Hence the look out for a replacement, 90bhp or 110bhp flavour, i aint fussed.

Blimey, glad you lived to drive another pug!

Yeah, drums on the rear of the 90's, but it's a good, powerful and hassle free set up, so it's not a hardship in any way.

Yip, $hit happens as they say. Pity really cos it was Mint.

I'll keep you posted on the replacement.

Oh by the way, do the 90's have the trip computers as well?

Sorry to hear that lofty, glad you're ok!
I'm sure they all have the display so it should just be case of enabling in the bsi and getting the stalk.

Yeah im fine thanks. Pity about them not having it already enabled, oh well, as long as they are as frugal as im used to, it dont matter too much!

Once the insurance has been settled, i'll get some pics up.

Off to look at a couple of cars later, a 2000 W reg 2.0 hdi 110 GLX estate in Silver metallic, and a 2001 51 reg 2.0 hdi 90 Rapier estate in Cherry red.

Similar mileages, but the GLX has full Peugeot main dealer history, including cam belt change, so id rather spend the money on a better maintained car from the off.

I'll report back soon with findings!
