Swapping rear carpet (lots of pics)

Post by rapierKen »

Had a day off today. The Silver donor car went this morning.
the old carpet with stilletto heel damage!

The donor carpet shampooed

Note the difference in position of the holes at the bottom centre of the pics.
My car is a Y 2000 the donor car is a 51. They changed the orientation of the airbag control unit between the years.
While I had the seats out I shampooed them too.
Note the drivers seat bolster wear! :(

Big empty space

Carpet refitted. New hole made for airbag controller unit stud.
Image
Center console bracket refitted
Image
Airbag control unit refitted and handbrake warning light switch wires reconnected.
Image
Cable tie reused
Image
Seat wires and bracket refitted
Image
Rear seats fitted
Image
Centre console fitted
Image
Image
Plastics cleaned
Image
And fitted
Image
Image
Replaced the gear lever gator
Image
Seats in car and electrics connected
Image
I always do this this bolt first
Image
Reattach seat belt anchor point on seat
Image
My payment for the day! :cheesy:
Image
While I was doing all this I took the passenger under dash felt out.
Image
I used an old beard trimmer to remove the fluffy bits. Shame they don't make the Remington Fuzz away any more. Or nick the wifes electric shaver to do this :supafrisk:
Image
Also fitted the engine shield and new fitting studs from the donor car which the previous owner had replaced!
Image
Not bad for 190,000 miles
A good days work and a clean interior. 8)

Very nice work, but one thing's puzzling me - you put all that effort into it then you put THOSE mats back into it?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I think it was designed for the British market... something about "French humour" I believe...
