Carplan "Original Black" Aerosol

Post by mjb »

Buy some!

Spray it on your black bits of exterior trim like it says on the can, it looks ok. Spray it on your dashboard, door cards, steering wheel, engine bay plastic bits... it looks AWESOME, like new! Just spray it on and black stuff goes BLACK without touching the non-black stuff! Wipe the residue off with a cloth and it doesn't feel funny to the touch either.

It does do a good job, but the more you use it, the more you then need it as it leaches the mobile hydrocarbons from the untreated plastics, which helps UV light turn them grey.

I've heard of folk using peanut butter, Woolite and all sorts of bizzare substances. I might start an internet rumour that Gin gets them shiny...

I use Turtlewax's Cockpit Shine. Very good, but may try Carplan stuff.

Quick tip:
WD40 works for a quick fix, or better still a good soaking in ATF fluid will give a good finish and bring the faded black plastic back to life
