I don't want to sound confrontational but you must be aware of the incredible mark up there is on most dealer parts.

In fact, if I might be permitted a small rant at this point: Peugeot seem to think sticking an outsourced part in a bag with chevrons and lions on it entitles them to increase the cost up to 1000%. I realise they're running a business and have overheads to pay but it sometimes feels like they're expecting spare parts to make all their profits. For pretty much all of us on this site the 406 we drive isn't just a car: we are enthusiasts, and the way we maintain these cars doesn't just reflect on us, it also reflects on the manufacturer - people see all these immaculate 406s running about and they think that perhaps Peugeot make a good, durable car, and are more likely to buy one. And how does Peugeot repay us? Oh, is this the handle of a knife I feel protruding from my back?

Firstly i would like to thank jpug for taking the the time to register
and offer the parts on here , but, i have to agree with the rest as regards
the price of pug spares . As far as i have been able to all parts that have
been fitted on my car have been genuine pug but sourced from fleabay ,
number of which have come from pug dealers seamingly glad to get rid
of old stock . So i totally agree with steve's comments as regards recovering
costs by selling over priced parts (or trying to ) to us poor punters .
At this moment in time i am in the market for front disc's and pads , i
shall be buying mintex £75 for disc's and pads , the maths speak for themselves.
But i hope you manage to shift them jpug :)
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

yeah these are brembo disks.
i totally understand with you mate. im at a main dealer and i know in a recession the motor trade is getting hit hard!! the pricing on alot of parts is quite good and sometimes even beats the motor factors. but i totally get where your coming from and i hope peugeot sort something out soon because its not only getting your backs up but ours too cos at the end of the day if a parts dept arent busy and making money then we go down the swanner!!
thats why i have joined this kinda forum to be honest,as it keeps me busy at work and any money i make through these kinda sales is going into business....not as though im keeping it!! the motor trade is going through some tough times so i have to think of different ways to keep sales up.

i can do cheap parts depending on what it is especially on these discs so will listen to any offers if any are interested?

£100 is a reasonable price IMHO. I was utterly over the moon when I bought an unused but rusty pair for £50 and I think a lot of coupé owners were cursing me for having beat them to it...

There seem to be stupidly expensive parts and impressively cheap parts... D9 clutch slave cylinders for instance sell at prices Eurocarparts told me they can't come close to! Wheelarch liners - £15 for a huge slab of plastic (especially estate ones)? ES9J4 inlet manifold gasket - a steal at £3 - I think they must lose money on those given the massive packaging with 'em...

Brembo parts on the other hand are not cheap in the slightest. £90 for pads, and £90 again for 4 bloody pins and 2 clips!

I think someone on the coupé club took the time to work out what it'd cost to build a new car from parts (that would be KILLER fun!). Came out at something like £100,000 I think...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

But as someone pointed out, Brembo disks and pads aren't made by Brembo. EBC was just the fist decent brake manufacturer I could think of that wouldn't be cheap.

Did you see the final part of that brake pin debarcle? Mintex versions were sourced for 8.50 for both sets. Slightly cheaper than Pug's 90 quid
