Just replaced mine (D9 estate) with one from a breaker. The centre console panel lifts out, then the ash tray then the panel around the gear lever. Get your fingers underneath the lighter and twist and it will come up through the panel. My wires were just long enough to reach the level of the panel. It's a narrow three pin block that fits onto the bottom of the lighter. Straight swap. The bulb fitting clips onto the side of the outer orange plastic bit sliding up from below. Difficult to explain but you will easily see what I mean. Check your bulb before you put it all back in by switching the lights on! Then re-fit by rotating the plastic bits through the slots in the console so it drops back down into position. 10 minute job famous last words!
That's handy to know, Marky - thanks! Ade1122 on the Coupe Club forums has quoted me £15 posted for a used one.
I'm going to try Overtons Dismantlers for one, see how much they quote me - but Bitchin' Betty is in the garage at the moment and so disposable income is scarce right now.
