WTB - 406 Bosch model ECU (1998)

Post by 750frog »

Hi all,

I have recently done the bosch/Lucas conversion on my 1998 406SRDT and the tacho cuts out at 3000 rpm. Looking to get a second hand ECU so the tacho works all the time.

Postage to Sydney Australia with the price.

Cheers, Tim.

I've got a spare 2.1TD ECU. Not sure how much postage would be to Australia though. I'd be after £25 for the ECU plus the postage cost.

I've been discussing this at length with mark, as we've both had the 3k problem. It seems there are three factors which affect if the ECU is the right one:
1. Manufacture date (should be 1996)
2. Large number at the bottom (should be 96 274 538 80)
3. The letter on the end of the line beginning DCU R (should probably be 'A')

This ECU works:

...and this one doesnt:

Also, if you find your car runs on for 30 seconds if the tacho hasn't 'crashed', then the ECU will also cure that!

AHA,

Yes mine runs on for a bit, I just tell people it has a turbo timer! LOL.

OK, I will keep looking. There are very few early 406TD's in australia so hoping to get the part from UK???

Cheers.

In case HimBigChief's ECU is the wrong one, there's one on eBay that I've already confirmed with the seller as having the correct numbers:

Just a disclaimer: Although they have provided me the correct numbers, it might be worth double checking with them, and also as this is not an exact science yet (not many 406 2.1s running on Bosch) I may still be incorrect!

My engine is a 2.1, with epic system.

The pump bsch works fine but i've lost the tacho.

Thanks, but it's not the right ecu.

If we have a 2.1 engine, we need a lucas ecu

Hello :cheesy:

I've got a very very good and big tip for your bosch 406 2.1 converted, especially for tacho brake down at 3000 rpm.

You don't need to buy a special ecu from 1996, with a strict serial. Just keep your origal ECU :cheesy: :cheesy:

You just have to let your accelerator potentiometer connected and blocked at the maximum position.

You can easy use a colson to block the potentiometer to the max position.

And it's enough !! Your tacho will not drop at 3000 rpm !! :cheesy:

I hope this tip will help you. I found it after watching those very interesting french video.
