SOLD - 2.2 Hdi Exec Estate - 114k, long MOT - Essex

Am reluctantly selling my 2002 406 Executive 2.2 HDi Estate, currently on approximately 114k miles. It has had two previous owners, I am the owner and registered keeper and have the V5C in my name. The car is HPi clear, no finance, no recorded accidents.

I used to be a professional mechanic and am very picky when comes to buying cars, this was by far the best overall package of those I saw, and has been a pleasure to own. I have had it for just under a year and the reason for sale is my wife and I are both selling our cars to buy one between us. We just do not use either car enough to justify owning two (approx 6k miles between us in 12 months!).

The engine is extremely strong and pulls well throughout the rev range, and I have found it economical throughout with a typical 45-50MPG under mixed driving. It has been used on 6 occasions to tow and performed superbly, and still returned over 30MPG (Saxo race car on the trailer, a total of approx 800 miles).

It has MOT until 2nd November 2013, Tax until August 2013, and is due a minor service in March 2013 (oil and filter).

It has a fully stamped service book apart from the last service which I did myself, detailed below is what has been done in the last year:
07/03/2012 - 110'541 miles - Purchased from dealer.
17/03/2012 - 110'700 miles - Comprehensive service - Synthetic DPF specific diesel engine oil, oil filter, air filter, checked and top up all fluids and levels, checked error codes (none logged).
27/03/2012 - 110'750 miles - Fitted new front brake discs and pads, new rear brake discs and pads, refurbished rear calipers, rear handbrake shoes. Brake fluid replace.
05/05/2012 - 111'021 miles - Was having issues with the remote central locking. The dealer I purchased the car from paid for 2 new remote keys to be supplied and coded by Peugeot.
24/05/2012 - Fitted new exhaust backbox as hanger was rusty on old one. Also purchased a replacement centre section to fit at same time, however existing one was fine. This can go with the car when purchased.
August 2012 - Fitted new rear toe links. Also purchased rear drop-links to fit at the same time, however existing ones are still good. These can do with the car when purchased.
August 2012 - Replaced 2 tyres with new Michelin Energy tyres and fitted to the front. The rear tyres, and the spare, all have good amount of life left in them.
October 2012 - Investigated water leak from headlining and found o/s sunroof drain partially blocked. Both drains cleared out and removed the drivers seat to dried out the carpet, multiplugs etc. No issues since.
01/11/2012 - Pass MOT with advisory on n/s handbrake, easily resolved by adjusting the brake shoes. MOT tested commented on how good the car for it's age, a testament to previous owners!

The spec is very high and is as follows:

ABS
Cruise control
Climate control (with working air conditioning)
Electric / heated black leather seats with folding armrests
Electric folding mirrors
JBL uprated radio with 6 CD changer
Electric sunroof
Witter towbar with single electrics (was already fitted to car on purchase but towball was unused)
Electric windows front and rear
Headlight washers
Sat-Nav (does not function, has a disc error. Might be the laser needs cleaning but I use a Garmin so have not tried to fix)

Car comes with:
2 keys (new casing and remote May 2012)
Security code card
Service book + receipts
Manual and leather holder

I currently have fitted a Peugeot hard plastic high top boot liner, up for negotiation if goes with car or not.

Car is based in Essex, happy for test drives on proof of insurance and receipt of a suitable deposit.

Apologies folks, I put down 2003 and the car was actually registered 10/09/2002, now corrected. Mileage is 114,850 as of today.

Have been today and found our replacement car, as we expected the part-ex value offered on the 406 was very low, so it will remain for sale privately. It was however HPi checked, only flag is a number plate change.

My insurance runs up until March 2013, so would ideally like it sold by then. Fingers crossed the weather is better tomorrow so can get better pictures.

I have been looking at the market and what other 2.2s are up for sale and hence revised the price down to £1750 ono.

Even more interesting at that price, but i have decided to see if i can get mine going again (snapped cambelt). Shame you didn't try to sell in a months time when i might have a better idea of how dead it is.
