There are a few on eBay, use service box to get the new part number i.e. 6242c6, which is estate car with auto lights and esp....

There are 5 different types and several different brands, so do some homework....!!

There's somebody on eBay offering to fix them for £25, think he's not too far from you.

I've got two broken ones, (exec estate without ESP). You're welcome to one to put in for repair, if you wish.

If it's an exec then it'll have esp and be stupidly expensive

Although I suspect you know which one you need, have already priced it up and came reeling in here in shock afterwards. Is this for the HPi? Usual symptoms?

Unfortunately the company I got mine from (partspool.com) seem to have changed a lot and now want a log in, they don't even appear to be the same thing any more

Neither of my exec estates had ESP. The first one didn't have satnav either.

Same as mine, try 6242c6 - pug 206 gti 180 are a straight fit if easier to find....
I am after one to as my comms is a bit weak but I would rather spend money on stuff like food, gas, electric etc...

Those 4 are all Service Box lists for the 406, although while I was Googling for prices I did find someone saying they'd been told in the dealers that there were 22 different versions across PSA (probably more now too). Someone must have got a big back-hander to fit this crap to so many cars

True, you have ' auto headlights with rear wiper ' - ' auto headlights with no rear wiper but with esp ' - ' no auto headlights, rear wiper, front fogs and esp ' etc etc etc....

I think the new part numbers have narrowed it down a bit to make it easier to find the right one.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, especially as it looks like my old one...

There are still 22+ across PSA, I wouldn't buy one without a part number, I've seen forum posts of people fitting the wrong one 'cos it was cheap and having all sorts of problems while I've been searching.

I'm going to try the guy that Eric mentioned for repairing the unit, £20 and more or less a while you wait service (30 minutes) and only 45 minutes drive from here.

Sounds well worth a try, I'll ring him for more info.
