Sadly, at approx. 17:30 on Friday 06/12/13, the 1996, 1.9TD Executive, expired...on the busiest junction in Aberdeen.
Thank you to the helpful two who pushed the quiet Peugeot into a side street for me.
So, before I offer it to the local scrappy, does anyone want to make me an offer for it?
Passed its MOT Oct this year.
The timing belt failed at idle, as I was waiting to make a right hand turn.
No banging or slapping from the engine, and I was getting close to 45mpg until this happened.
Full black leather interior, no rips or tears, in good condition.
Sun roof works, radio and cd work but not the tape deck.
Tow bar fitted.
Two new tyres on front.
Refurbish injectors fitted this year.
Nearly complete history.
White, no additional parts fitted, excepting tow bar.
I am 160 miles from home, so not really worth me trying to get it home to repair, otherwise I would change the belt and see if there is any damage to the engine. It was at idle so there is a chance no real damage has been done.
I'll try and post a photo tomorrow.
Regards,
Colin.

A real shame
Could you not make use of breakdown cover to get it recovered back home? Worst case scenario it would need a new head, which you could get off ebay for not much.
Might be interested in the leather interior? I take it they're the leccy type? I'd need to figure out how to retro-fit them to my poverty spec. I'm in Clydebank, near Glasgow.

Re: 1996 1.9TD for parts or repair.
I live in Clydebank as well, Parkhall.
I work in Aberdeen and have a parking space which is now occupied by the 406.
Recovery back to Clydebank would be too expensive if I have then got to spend time and money on a repair.
If I was closer to home I would fit a new timing belt and see what happens but it is too much of a job to bring all the tools to Aberdeen and do the work in a narrow parking bay.
I will put it on eBay at the weekend.
You can have first refusal.

Colin.
