I know there has been a lot of speculation about heat, but I think damp has a lot to do with it. In the summer the heat makes mine fade from the top, but its the damp winters that seem to produce the lines..
My car moves once a week (work from home and have a little run around for the nursery run) and it takes ~ 100 miles of driving with the heater on before the lines reduce, I even got them to vanish after a 300 mile trip.
I have often thought about taking it apart and packing in a load of silica gel sachets to see if it has any effect.
I've still got a couple more things to try but they are quite involved and I need to make up a jig, and I've just not got time at the moment. I will definitely get round to it at some point though, promise!
