Basically there are 3 engine types on the phase 2 ( D9 ) 406s.

Hdi90 - great round town, cheap to run but a little slower compared to modern traffic on the bypass
Hdi110 - the best all rounder for mixed driving. Its the same engine as the 90 but with an intercooler and different turbo.
Hdi136 - ( 2.2 ltr ) this is the most powerful engine, but has a complicated vacuum system and also possible problems with FAP and DMF, which the other 2 engines don't have. Nothing that members here haven't dealt with and even improved.

The executive has all the toys, if one is available then may as well go for it. The GLX/GTX are well equipped also, just without the leather interior and headlight washers that the executive has...

Have a look at it and you can ask questions on here if you have any concerns... 8)

140,000 is considered average for the age - some have reached 300,000 and going strong.

Don't let the mileage put you off - the cam-belt will be due around that age so go through the history..

Is there nothing closer - 406s are plentiful in the local websites/mags etc..

no i was comparing interior kit on parkers like cd plaer and leather seats and parkers says for example both gtx cars [family and standard estate] have no climate control included be it standard or optional, excuse my ignorance but i thought the unit with ac buttons and temp up/down was climate control

The later that the car's were built it seems that they can be a bit of a part's bin special  , just read through a few old post's of other people asking about spec's
so I wouldn't worry to much about parkers guides & just go for the best spec car you see that you like :cheesy: .
Look after it & it'll look after you 8)
Happy hunting DDD.

Ignorance is bliss..... :cheesy: The button ones are indeed Climate.

I would say 85% of 406s have the climate control - LX,GLX and GTX are normally made from whatever parts Peugeot have knocking around at the time - the option of Cruise Control seems to be a bit hit & miss though..

Best to look at each car as they come, then you will know for sure what options it genuinely has... :cheesy:
