Phase 1 406 Bonnet - Silver - Wanted

Hello All,

My first post but I've come by recomendation.

I'm after a Phase 1 406 Bonnet in silver, unfortunatly my bonnet flipped up last night when driving along and smack the screen, screen is fine but the bonnet is in a right mess.

I'm wondering if anyone has one for sale?

Much apprectiated

Ouch! I've had that happen to me twice so I know how scary it can be! Glad you got out in one piece!

If you find one (in a breakers yard especially) try to get the hinges as yours may well be buckled and bent (too thick metal to hammer out). Also you'll probably need to straighten out the mounting plate where the hinge bolts to the body, that'll be a load of trial and error

I'd also advise taking the aerial mount off (search the forum for my posts on how to do this) and pumping silicone sealant or something around the hole as you'll now have a nice dent in the roof around there, which may start leaking (both mine did)

Hello MJB,

Thanks for the advice,

You got any idea on a ball park figure for a bonnet?

Much appreciated

I got mine from a breakers yard for £50 with hinges. Think I remember getting quotes of about £120 for a new (likely pattern) one painted. The 2nd time I took the opportunity to ditch the car (MOT failure on a CV boot, and it needed a new cambelt) and get a V6 8)

50 sounds good,

It's a 1900TD XUD, i think it needs some work on the engine so this is just one more thing to add to the list,

Just got a years ticket on it not all bad :P
