any body got any ideas on the wheight of these soi can get a post quote.
That's very kind of you sir. I wonder if all English are like the people on this forum, or only 406 owners? I keep getting huge help and noone wants anything back! Great community.
I'll try to have a word with those at ECP via the chat, I may make use of your very kind offer. In this case I'll of course let you know!
steve_earwig wrote:Don't ask me, I'm crap at guessing the weight of stuff..

I've been to have a word with my mate in the car spares shop, he reckons 70€ is less than we could get you some here & send them through the post (especially if customs works out what they are...)

He says original equipment are TRW Lucas LUC GDB1194 - I have a sheet here with all the different part numbers for different manufacturers (Brembo, ATE, Valeo, Bosch etc.) which I can post if it's of any use.

His database also says these pads were fitted to the 406 and no other car.

Please post the list! I have some numbers here but they are not all consistent. The guys at the local parts shop told me pads + discs front and rear (Brembo or Ferodo parts) would be arund 300£ (not that I need discs, but I was there and asked for them too).
I may go to another part supplier in the next days.

Also, don't do a 'doggy' - (this is where you fit all 4 pads, then discover some of the sensor leads are longer than others, so they don't all reach).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Well the sensors are simply a dual core metal wire, you could make it longer with only a little soldering, can't you?

It's still easier to put them in the right positions first time, (rather than assuming they're all the same length, like I did).

Peugeot trade club have offers on brake pads and discs for all Peugeot models.

If you keep the weight down to less than 2kg you can post an item as "small package" which is cheapest. I do this posting stuff to my son in Sweden.

Sorry, trade club is for garages and professional car repair people.

I can price up these pads at trade club price for you if you like.... I would need your vin number to do this.

Personally I never use the so-called "genuine" parts, preferring Mintex, Apec or Ferodo, which I can buy at very good prices.

Incidently

I've got a power supply for my mate sitting at my dad's in England, it weighs a massive 2.03Kg which knocks it out of small package territory into "costs more than the bluddy contents!" land. I'm now trying to figure out if I want my dad to take it to pieces and send it in 2 packages

2 things:
- I have some spare power supplies I can sell you if you want
- mind dismantling a power supply can be extremely dangerous if the power supply hasn't been left unplugged for a week or two at least, they have some very strong capacitors in there!

It's a nice thought but the power supply is for a specific tool and variable between 0 and 18 volts @ 150 watts.

It's always a valid point to be wary of stored charge and I will pass your concerns on to the elderly gentleman in question. However he is likely to tell me not to teach my grandmother to suck eggs :P

Better safe than sorry :cheesy:
Actually I do have a variable power supply (0-24V, something like 100W) somewhere, but it's as old as don't know what and I still use it for testing from time to time.
