You know, I paid £3,300.00 for my T plate exec 2 years ago, and I was happy to pay that, but now even though it still looks and feels the same I am driving a £1,000.00 bargain

Yeah but maintenance / repair costs aren't dropping are they? At this rate it won't be long before the smallest fault on a 406 will render it beyond economical repair (In fact in my head that's happened already!).

Thank God for ebay and the local breakers Dai! I think the only original part I've bought is the timing belt (touch wood!)

£50 that i was going to order from the stealers today for £108+ vat

I got all the suspension gear off ebay and the rear disks/pads/shoes. My first couple of weeks of ownership were spent under the car! Oh, not forgetting Eurocarparts too

Yeah Com2000 mate. When you look at them you can almost understand why they've so expensive, extremely complex bit of kit it is. However why the stupid french tw@s had to make them so fekking complex is beyond me!!! The other thing is that there are loads of different variants, so ebay's a bit of a lottery, and there is a superseding part listed on servicebox, ergo they've admitted that the original part is shyte. Now IMO when manufacturers do this they should be obliged to replace the part at a massively discounted rate.
