Farmer should be careful, after pulling at his knob for some time it could blast him in the face, and no-one needs that, I've even heard stories of it hitting the roof lining - but that's only after the job was put-off for several days beforehand :mrgreen:

well i gave it a turn, then i yanked my knob and it came off easily, whats the big deal, i did it with one hand:

where all the difficulty in that comes from i dont know, now i need a new knob.

Arrrr thats been a Birds car,
ibet shes had loads of Bling, rings bangles n all the fancy stuff rubbing away at it,

ibought My old ford Galaxy offa bird and the scratches on it with her havin Jewelry were unreal :(

this car was owned by a university lecturer, before that peugeot fleet. i believe.

its friction burns on it then from thumbling maybe Lecturer as been giving student private lessons :lol:

Certainly been something going on.....

My knob looks pristine after 147k 8)
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

some people with nervous dispositions pick the gearstick, my dad bought an accountants car and the gearknob looked like a cats scratching post.

Another possibilty : someone may have had deisel or something on there hand it is good at Rotting stuff and making plastic and rubber brittle,
My car is a 99 and the Gear Knob is like Brand new so icarnt see it as being a Desighn flaw or Weakness,

sweaty hands could also cause this problem on the gearstick.

couid you not just buy another Puggy 406 Gear knob and just swap the Tops over ?
As Far as ican see there only Glued on and come off easy, :idea:
