This is the bit i hate about Ebay I'm never convinced it's sold until it's collected in person and the cash is in me hands... Looks like your bidder was there most of the way though so hopefully you'll be getting the Kleenex out soon and waving her off... Good luck mate.

Yep I had dealings with someone using the buy it now price to then come and haggle. Then with the other one bidding ended, come to collect and again, haggled!

I sold my grandmothers other half's focus about 4 years ago to some tool from Newport for over 1100 squid and after a weeks worth of e-mails and calls he mailed me to say he came up, saw the car and drove off because he thought it was a shed..... Funny that because the car had been with me on a caravan site in Brecon so there was no way he saw it.

The week after when i was home it went back on Ebay and i went back to the same campsite for a week it sold for 1120 quid if i remember right... Again to someone from Newport .... needless to say it didn't sell on Ebay and i ended up selling it to a mate for 800.... it was nice to have free insurance and diesel for that month but feck me was it stressful.

Never trusted people on Ebay since.... And absolutely f*cking hate Newport.

I reckon winner must of whacked in £500 at the start as every time someone bid it was outbid by the winner and all their bids were on the 20th

I sold a Porsche engine for my mate and it sold for £1600
Someone contacted him a day later and said is it sold if not ill collect today and give you £1500
Had no contact from winner and tried to cancel the sale but eBay wouldn't let me without winner agreeing but there was no contact.
At 11th hour he makes contact and says he'll be up at weekend
Guess what, he turns with with only £1200

The only time I sold my car on eBay, my last 406, I had a painless experience. The guy turned up a few days later from Essex (I was in Wiltshire at the time) with cash and took it off me. Said it was for towing a caravan in Romania. I bet it's still running without problems....

I contacted the buyer, and asked when they'd like to collect the car
In the advert I stated it would need trailering away as although mot'd it's on SORN and the starter blown
They replied they'd like to come Saturday day as they work 7-7
They also said, can I turn up with a starter and the battery off their 1.9td and drive it away

I don't know whether I read it wrong, but I read as a starter i.e one to suit, and the battery off their 1.9td
Something now tells me they are going to turn up with the battery AND starter from their 1.9td

Anyway, Thinking it was the former, I replied in theory, I don't see why not - hey if they want to drive it away with no tax, i'm just going to get them to sign a copy of the receipt stated the time the deal was done. Then if there is any come back i'm covered, right

I also gave them my address and phone number

Not heard anything since
I messaged them to say saturday morning was awkward and could they make it after 12.

So bit of jiggy jiggy, then go shopping, put shopping away, go gym and do 90ish mins in there and back home for 11.50
Wash the 406, then wash the dingo, come inside make dinner, and just finished.
So i'm sat here, not heard from them since wednesday, and thinking WTF

Think I should of just gave them my phone number, and told them to ring when they were ready to leave Cov, and i'd give them the address.
At least that way i'm not just sat here
Was snowing 20mins ago, and was thinking they are never going to turn up and fit a starter in this
BUT, now, it's blue sky and sunshine WTF - how many more days of 4 seasons in one day

Must remember IF there is a next time to just give phone number, at least i'd know what was happening

Did you not get their phone number? You could always request the contact info through Ebay & give them a ring. Another thing I do is check their bidding history using the advanced search to make sure they haven't bid (& won) anything similar suggesting a potential duff sale.
